Compensation claims - does it include interest?

If one had to claim under the £50K UK compensation scheme, should say ICICI fail in the future, can one claim the fund, as it stood at the time including interest, or would one only receive back the original money deposited.

If it is the fund would the way interest is applied to the account affect the compensation i.e. if interest was paid at the end of the term?

If you needed to claim under the Financial Services compensation scheme, the amount you could claim would include both the original capital and any interest up to a maximum of £50K
