Investments Explained

Investments are riskier than traditional savings accounts because the value of the investment may go down. However, investments can often achieve higher rates than traditional bank accounts. Unit trusts, OEICs (open ended investment companies) and investment trusts are collective investments which pool your money with other investors, giving you the benefit of lower dealing costs than directly purchasing shares. Investment bonds and structured products are accounts where the return is linked to an index such as the FTSE or House Price index, but your money is not invested directly.
