Discounted Variable Rate Mortgages Explained

The interest rate payable on these mortgages is less than the lenders’ standard variable rate (SVR) for a specified period of time. The amount of the reduction is called the discount. The SVR is the lender’s main interest rate.

Whilst discounted rates are less than SVRs, it is worth bearing in mind that their variable nature means your monthly repayment will change if the main SVR goes up or down.

Our first time buyer Best Buys also contain some discounted rates at higher loan-to-value tiers. For a more comprehensive list of products currently available, please use our mortgage search.
