What are long term fixed rate bonds?

Long term fixed rate bonds may suit you if you have a lump sum to invest and don’t require access to your money for a period of over three years (although the majority of products in our Best Buy table are either 4 Year Fixed Rate Bonds or 5 Year Fixed Rate Bonds).

These types of account tend to offer the best savings rates available; however, early access to your money is not generally allowed so you need to be sure that you can tie your money up for the long term.
