What are medium term fixed rate bonds?

Medium term fixed rate bonds may suit you if you have a lump sum to invest and don’t require access to your money for a period of between two and three years.  Specifically, a medium term fixed rate bond can strike the balance between you not having to re-invest your savings every year, without your money being tied up for too long.

Be aware though that the majority of fixed rate bonds impose restrictions relating to withdrawing your funds early, so this type of account will not be suitable if you envisage you might need to make a withdrawal during the term.
