Lloyds TSB has been found to provide the best website for its credit card customers.

Those carrying out a credit card comparison online who then sign up with the bank are benefiting from good customer service, according to Global Reviews' latest study.

Lloyds TSB maintained its number one position for overall customer experience with a score of 65 per cent, while its customer service was given a rating of 80 per cent.

Halifax and HSBC occupied the number two and number four positions respectively, although both scored below 40 per cent for the online customer support category.

"The vast majority of consumers depend on websites to research their options. Credit card companies are missing a trick if they do not provide their customers with the best possible online experience," said director of Global Reviews Bertie Stevenson.

Last week Sainsbury's Bank noted that a reward credit card is ideal for the 7.55 million who use their card to pay for everyday purchases, provided the balance is cleared each month.
