There are various forms of health insurance available these days, but some people are put off looking any further because of the perceived cost involved. It's often viewed as a luxury rather than a necessity, but there's one type of health insurance that's specifically designed for everyday use – health cash plans.

Health cash plans are a simple form of health insurance that will give you cashback for everyday medical expenses. They can be used for the likes of optician appointments, trips to the dentist, physiotherapy treatment and complementary therapies, and some can go even further than that. There'll be various different plans available according to your needs, but could you benefit from them?

Well, you might if:

  • You want a simple way to budget for everyday health costs (those which the NHS don't cover)
  • You know you'll need regular trips to the dentist/optician/physiotherapist over the next few months or years
  • You don't want to worry about paying for unexpected medical bills in one lump sum
  • You want to pay affordable premiums and be safe in the knowledge that you'll be getting something back on a regular basis

Unlike traditional health insurance policies, these plans aren't designed to be used for specialist treatment when you've got a serious complaint – if you want that kind of cover you'll still need a separate policy – but they can be used for more general healthcare costs.

Think of how much a trip to the opticians can add up, and what about physiotherapy or chiropody? Private dental treatment can seriously stretch the budget, and even NHS treatment can add up to a tidy sum if you need a lot of work. This is where the majority of people can benefit from health cash plans, as it'll give them a way to cover all those bills without needing to worry.
