Despite a May industry survey finding that the cost of replacing the contents of the average UK home is about £44,500, figures from the British Insurance Brokers' Association recently revealed that consumers are reducing their house cover in an attempt to save money.

While skimping on cover may seem like a good idea at the time, the reality is that home insurance represents very good value – costing a mere fraction of the average value of contents.

Consumers looking for affordable insurance would do well do consider AXA's home insurance package. A 50 per cent discount is currently being offered to consumers with five years no claims who are applying for combined buildings and contents cover online.

Customers who have made a claim during the last five years can still make significant savings, as a 20 per cent discount is available to those applying online.

Times are tight for many and, as such, AXA has strived to make its home insurance as affordable as possible, offering consumers the chance to spread their annual payments by paying premiums on a monthly basis.

The package offers £60,000 of cover for contents – well above the average value – while rebuilding costs up to £1 million are included.

Customers can also make alterations to their cover to suit their range of needs. This includes a choice between Essential or Plus, depending on the need for a basic package or a little more peace of mind with some accidental damage cover as standard.

A flexible range of add-ons are also available, covering home emergency, identity theft and worldwide personal protection on possessions, right down to your cycle – so get on your bike and cover your home and possessions today!
