HSBC has reduced the rate of its market leading two year discounted variable rate mortgage.

It offers a rate of 2.29% (1.65% discount), although the fee has been increased from £999 to £1,499.

This latest cut of 0.20% makes this eye catching deal some 0.70% cheaper than its nearest rival. Offering those who are remortgaging and have the 40% equity required a free legal service, it is bound to appeal to many borrowers.

It has been awarded four out of five Moneyfacts stars.
