Yorkshire BS has reduced the rates on its fixed rate mortgages to markedly improve their competitiveness in the market.

The two year fixed rate deal now has a rate of 4.99% (down from 5.39%) for a 90% loan-to-value mortgage and sits head and shoulders above the competition.

Available to first time buyers only, it comes without any arrangement fee and offers free legal fees, a free valuation and a £500 rebate.

Four out of five Moneyfacts stars are well deserved.
