Northern Rock has upped the rate paid on its one year cash ISA.

The Fixed Rate Cash ISA Issue 144 pays a yearly rate of 2.85% on a minimum investment of £500.

Withdrawals and transfers out are permitted on 60 days' loss of interest, although further additions are allowed up to 30 days after the issue closes, and transfers in are permitted.

The minimum transaction is £250 and the account converts to a 30 Day ISA with instant access permitted for 30 days.

Four out of five Moneyfacts stars have been awarded.
