West Bromwich Building Society has improved its standing in the internet savings league by increasing the rate on its Websave Plus account.

Now paying 2.61%, it is the top rate available on an internet operated account without a bonus.

However, savers will need to be mindful of the account restrictions, as only one withdrawal is permitted per account year, with a hefty penalty levied if this is exceeded.

The monthly option will, however, appeal to those looking to supplement their income.

Four out of five Moneyfacts stars are well deserved.
