A new tool has been launched offering holidaymakers the chance to calculate how long they should go away for.

Saga Travel Insurance has introduced the option after finding that 26 per cent of Britons have been bored while on holiday, with ten per cent experiencing this feeling after the first week.

The firm noted that other factors influencing decisions should include the type of vacation that is desired, as well as whether to go alone, with family or with friends.

Chief executive of Saga Group Andrew Goodsell remarked: "Holidays should offer a much-needed escape from daily stresses and strains and choosing the right destination for the optimum length of time is the first step to getting the most enjoyment."

He added that travel insurance should not be overlooked in order to ensure worry is minimised.

Last week, insurer RIAS warned that considering what a policy covers is as important as price.
