Britons have been warned not to overlook the importance of travel insurance quotes when planning holidays this summer.

Insurer RIAS noted that considering what a policy covers is important, after observing that many people make a choice based on price alone.

The firm explained that although many holidaymakers are willing to take time over finding the right deal for their break, travel insurance quotes tends not to be given the same kind of attention.

Managing director of RIAS Janet Connor stated that purchasing a policy is as important as arranging things such as visas and vaccinations.

"When buying insurance consumers should think of a policy as something they need to tailor, rather than buying a one-size-fits-all product," she said, adding that being familiar with terms is "essential".

Meanwhile, AXA has announced that its travel insurance for those travelling to the Channel Islands has been updated, after an agreement for Britons to receive free medical treatment came to an end.
