Tesco Bank has extended the 0% balance transfer period on its credit card to push it further up our best buy chart.

The basics…

Clubcard Credit Card For Balance Transfer MasterCard now has a 0% balance transfer period of 33 months, which means that it sits just behind the market-leader in this sector.

The credit card also has a three-month 0% purchase rate.

The finer details…

During the introductory period, a balance transfer fee of 2.90% will be payable. Once the introductory deals have come to an end, balance transfers will be charged at 20.626% per year while the standard purchase rate will revert to 18.9% APR.

Holders of this credit card will benefit from Clubcard points: five points are awarded for every £4 spent in a Tesco store or from a Tesco petrol station, while one point is awarded for every £4 spent elsewhere.

Borrowers should remember that rates are dependent upon their credit history.

Why we like it…

Tesco has muscled into the latest balance transfer ruckus and ensured that it sits just behind the market-leader in this sector. Although new products in this area are constantly being launched and existing products tweaked, this offer from Tesco is still likely to appeal, especially with the benefits of added Clubcard points.
