Hampshire Trust Bank has launched a new 18 month fixed rate account, which has gone straight into the top 10 for its terms. It has also amended one of its notice savings deals with a rate boost of 0.5%, meaning it easily enters the Moneyfacts charts, too.

The basics…

HTB 18 Month Bond Issue 1 now has a rival-beating rate of 1.90% yearly, earning it a coveted place in the Moneyfacts charts.

Meanwhile, 90 Day Notice (Issue 5) has a competitive rate of 1.60% yearly, allowing it to sit among the top 10 accounts of its sector.

The finer details…

Both accounts must be opened and operated by post.

The bond requires a minimum deposit of £2,500, and like many fixed rate deals, it does not allow early access or further additions. Savers must therefore be happy with their investment from the beginning.

The notice account needs an initial deposit of at least £1,000, but it welcomes further additions. Unlimited, penalty-free withdrawals are also permitted, but no early access is possible, so savers must always give 90 days' notice.

Why we like them…

Both of these accounts possess eye-catching rates, which is sure to get them noticed in the savings market. Although neither offer savers early access to funds, the possibility of getting a decent return is likely to still appeal to those looking to make their money work harder.

Four Moneyfacts Stars have been awarded.
