The latest savings review from Barnsley Building Society has produced four new saving accounts. The two new ISAs are particularly competitive and have the top rates for their terms.
The new one-year Fixed Rate Bond and Fixed Rate Online Bond both pay 2.00% yearly (1.98% monthly). The two new ISAs, Fixed Rate ISA and Online ISA, also pay these rates, which means that they have the highest rates for their terms.
The fixed rate bonds need an initial deposit of at least £1,000. The online account can be conveniently opened and accessed online, while the other account can be opened and operated by post or in branch. Further additions are welcome in both accounts, but early access is not permitted.
The two ISAs need only £100 for their initial investment, and transfers in from other cash and stocks & shares ISAs are permitted. Further additions are also allowed while the issue is open. Early access is also possible, although the ISAs will then be closed and 60 days' interest will be lost. The online account can only be opened and managed over the internet while the other ISA is opened and operated in branch and by post.
The ISAs offer highly competitive rates, which set them above other ISAs of a similar term. The option for early access, albeit subject to a penalty, is appealing, as is the option to transfer in other ISAs.
