Skipton Building Society has unleashed two fixed regular savings accounts onto the market, one of which has stormed straight into the top 10 for its terms.

The basics…

Regular Saver has a rival-beating fixed rate of 3.00% for one year, earning it a place among the Moneyfacts best buys.

Meanwhile, if you became a member of Skipton BS prior to 26.1.14, you can benefit from an increased rate of 4.00% for 12 months with the Loyalty Regular Saver.

The finer details…

Regular Saver can be opened and operated in branch while the loyalty account can be opened in branch and by phone, and then managed in the same way or by post. An initial investment of just £1 is required for both accounts.

Monthly payments of between £1 and £250 can then be made into the accounts. Payments can be amended at any time and additional deposits are also welcomed provided the maximum monthly limit is not exceeded. It is also possible to miss payments without penalty.

Early access is permitted upon closure of the account and, as an added bonus, there is no penalty for doing so.

Why we like them…

The Regular Saver account has earned a well-deserved place in the Moneyfacts charts for its competitive, flexible terms. The great rate, payment flexibility and the ability to access funds early without penalty ensure that this deal is likely to catch the eye of many eager investors, particularly those looking to build their funds for Christmas 2015.

Four Moneyfacts Stars have been awarded.
