What is a Unit Linked Personal Pension?

A unit linked pension can give better long-term returns than a with profits personal pension, although this is at the expense of shouldering a greater risk.  This is because with a unit linked fund you buy units, which are a fraction of the total assets the fund has under management. As the value of these assets increases (or, of course, decreases) so does the value of your unit holdings.

There are a variety of different funds that you can choose to invest in, although as you get closer to retirement, your pension pot is usually switched to lower risk investments in order to safeguard and consolidate the gains your pension has made.

Our Unit Linked Personal Pension Best Buys show which providers have achieved the best growth over ten years. You should note that past performance is no indication of future performance; however, we hope that this information will help you make an informed decision when it comes to choosing your personal pension.
