Moneyfacts has awarded Bought by Many five stars across its range of dog and cat insurance policies, and it was named Pet Insurance Provider of the Year at the Moneyfacts Consumer Awards 2021.
Analysts rate the best pet insurance providers across all aspects of their policies including pricing, the maximum veterinary fees insured and additional areas of cover, such as discounts for multiple pets, alternative treatments and cover for hereditary conditions – and Bought by Many exceeds on several fronts.
There are several policies available through Bought by Many for both dogs and cats, ranging from value packages to fully comprehensive lifetime policies. Here’s what you can expect from their core options:
The low-cost Value 2K and Value 3K policies offer vet fee cover of £2,000 or £3,000 respectively, including a complementary treatment limit of £500. Cover for accidental dental problems are included, together with £1 million in legal cover (for dog policies only), £100 cover if your pet needs minding in an emergency, and £150 if they need to be put to sleep.
The mid-range Regular policy offers vet fee cover of up to £7,000, including a £1,000 complementary treatment limit. Accidental dental cover is again included and legal protection rises to £2 million, and cover if you need your pet minding in an emergency rises to £1,500. There’s also cover for pregnancy complications, available for the first pregnancy only.
The MoneyBack policy mirrors the Regular package in terms of core policy details, but it offers 20% cashback if you don’t make a claim.
Designed for pets with pre-existing medical conditions – which typically aren’t included in a pet insurance policy – this Bought by Many package offers cover of up to £500 in year one and £1,000 in year two for any pre-existing conditions.
The most comprehensive option available through Bought by Many, this policy offers vet fee cover of up to £15,000 (including a heightened £2,500 limit for complementary treatment), cover for any dental problem and legal protection of up to £3 million. It also includes cover of up to £2,500 when travelling abroad with your pet, up to £6,000 in cover if your pet is lost or stolen and the same level of cover if your pet passes away from an accident or illness.
Moneyfacts has reviewed hundreds of pet insurance policies to identify those with the best policy features and awarding these five stars. Find five star rated policies in our guide to the best pet insurance policies.
Optional add-ons for the Regular, MoneyBack and Pre-existing policies include:
These are all available as standard in the Complete policy with higher levels of cover, and the Value packages can only add up to £200 in cover if your pet is lost or stolen.
Bought by Many policyholders have access to the FirstVet app which offers 24/7 video calls with a UK-registered vet. The service is free and allows customers to have immediate expert advice if they’re worried about their pet – perhaps if they’re ill or have had a minor accident – and can advise treatment options or recommend an in-person veterinary appointment.
There are general conditions and exclusions to be aware of for all Bought by Many policies, so it’s vital to check the full policy details with the insurer before committing.
