National Savings & Investments has increased the rate of its Income Bonds by 1.00%.

The £500 product now pays a rate of 1.70% with the £25K bond paying 2.00%.

It is excellent news for people who require a monthly income from their investments and should prove popular. Interest is paid gross, which is a definitive advantage.

Paying up to 2.00%, it is one of the top five no notice accounts without a bonus and has been awarded four out of five Moneyfacts stars.
