This month the total value of prizes available in Premium Bonds reached £3.2 billion. There are five winners of £100,000 each and 12 winning £50,000 each. This includes one very lucky winner who has won £50,000 with just a £500 investment. Although their bond was purchased 12 years ago this is still an impressive return compared to cash savings. The £100,000 prize winners had invested funds of between £8,000 and £50,000 each.
Those wanting to check if they are a prize winner this month can visit the prize checker on the NS&I website or through its official prize checker app. Investors need to know their holder’s number, and this can be found on a bond record or by logging into their account. The holder’s number is 10 or nine digits long or eight digits with a letter. Winners should also be notified by text or email if they have won – of course NS&I will need up to date details for the bond holder for this to happen.
Prize winners can have their cash winnings paid directly to their bank account or NS&I Direct Saver account. There is also an option to reinvest winnings into further premium bonds. Those who have not received their prize winnings after the seventh working day of the month should contact NS&I to check their details are correct.
